As a sailing and social group, the success of our club is dependent on volunteers who give their time generously. From board members to committee leaders, there are a lot of opportunities to help! The expectation of all members is that they assist in some way with club activities every 4 years. Sailors have additional expectations to assist with racing activities. Below is a list of where to get started:
There are two aspects of the club: sailing and social. Both have needs at multiple levels where volunteers are needed to support each year. Look here for a list of current leaders and committees. If you are interested in a particular area, contact any board member or send an email to our Commodore and we'll make an introduction.
In addition to the 4th of July Family picnic and the end-of-the-season Trophy awards event in September, MYC hosts 3 cocktail parties each summer. The first one is typically hosted by the Commodore. The second and third are hosted at members' homes. There is always a need for hosting locations as the club tries to spread locations across the East, South and West shores.
Hosting a party does not entail more than providing your home. Food is catered and decorations are provided. Set up and tear down are handled by the club. If you are interested in volunteering to host a cocktail party or serve on a social committee, contact any board member or send an email to our Commodore and we'll work with you on details.
The Race Committee runs fleet races every Saturday and Sunday afternoon from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Volunteers are always needed. No experience necessary. For more information, please contact Brian Barr.
