Maxinkuckee Yacht Club

As members of the Maxinkuckee Yacht Club, many of you are familiar with our rich history, which began in 1896 as a social sailing club. Today, that legacy lives on with even more opportunities to connect, socialize, and compete on the water. For those who participate, or enjoy seeing our weekend sailboat races, you may have noticed our pontoon Committee Boat which has operated the racing for 33 years! And if you’ve noticed, it’s 33 years are showing (and not in a good way).

A committee was formed three years ago to look into options to replace this boat which has served longer than the expected lifetime of most pontoons. If you’ve seen the boat, you’ll know why. We believe we are well past the point of replacing our Club’s flagship, and our Committee, led by Dave Franckowiak, is looking at a range of options from re-fitting a newer/used boat up to the possibility a new Smoker Craft boat specifically tailored for race management. Smoker Craft has generously offered an attractive discount that is dependent upon the level we are able to raise funds.

That’s the purpose of this letter. We are seeking MYC member support to add to the funds already raised by the Committee, which includes 97 percent participation by our registered sailors and our Club Board of Directors and Committee leads. The result of this fundraising effort will determine which path we select. We would love your contribution to help continue this part of the rich legacy of our Yacht Club and make this next step possible.

We ask your consideration to support this effort and to be a part of MYC’s future. You may donate by:

  • Credit card: www.myc-culver.org/donate
  • Venmo:  @myc-culver (or scan the QR code)
  • Check to MYC, PO Box 53, Culver, IN 46511.

With your help, we hope to see a much-improved Committee Boat on the water. If you have any questions, please reach out to Dave Franckowiak (Dave@Franckowiak.net) or Brent Ducker (sducker@prodigy.net).

On behalf of the Club, and our future, thank you!
